How We Rate

Here on Pop Culture is Life, we use the 4 Star System to rate our movies, music, books, and video games.

We just feel ten stars are just way too many, and what’s the point of a fifth star other than to further complicate things? Still, in order to make the meaning of these star ratings clearer, here’s a breakdown to what each rating means:

★★★★ This is our highest honor. Either the piece was perfect and award worthy, or it perfectly fulfilled all desired needs for its genre.

★★★½ Near perfection. Perhaps one, minor flaw that is easily overlooked.

★★★☆ Solid piece of pop culture. A definite recommendation.

★★½☆ It’s good, but way too many flaws to overlook at this point. Some may enjoy, connoisseurs won’t.

★★☆☆ Neither good, nor bad.

★½☆☆ There is very little we can find good about it, and probably should be avoided.

★☆☆☆ God awful. Nothing good about it.

½☆☆☆ At this point, we’re wondering is someone is playing a prank on us. This piece can’t be serious.

…and of course, in the event we give it no stars…just wow.

So, we hope this little explanation helps you traverse our website and understand just what the hell we’re talking about most of the time. Furthermore, if you disagree with how we rate something, by all means comment and let us have it. We’ll listen to your opinion; no matter how wrong you may be. Thanks for reading!
