These albums have got me jumping like mama’s belt.
Kid Cudi
Man On The Moon-The End Of The Day
Ever since the evening I sat putting prices on cd’s I really had no love for, listening to whatever radio station my coworker was listening to, in mostly misery at the drivel that poured from the speakers, and I heard the opening to Kid Cudi’s first single Day and Night I have anxiously awaited this album. I mean Anxiously.
And I have not been let down. Not. One. Bit. The album takes the edge off- it doesn’t rip you a new asshole, it doesn’t send you into a mindless slumber. This is nighttime driving music, this is let it hang music, not party music, maybe the only one that fits the party bill is Make Her Say.
(This album is you and some close people going to music.) Another thing about this album is it’s not Kanye West and it’s got Common (one of those people you out there in zombie radio land should be listening to). Cudi is a stand out act- from his music I do not see a pompous penis, I see a guy out there getting high, making tunes for fun, or for himself by himself or with friends, and then writing the lyrics down when he feels it.
The stand out tracks on this album are of course the singles but Soundtrack 2 My Life, Cudi Zone, and Up, Up, and Away all make me moist. I am not saying that these are the only good songs, I am saying that it is worth what you will pay for it. Song to get the idea of the album is: Soundtrack 2 My Life.

Jay-Z
Blueprint 3
I promise you all I am not only about Hip-Hop/Rap, but when that’s the most brilliant stuff coming out- fuck it, that’s what I am listening to. Someone give me something else and I’ll listen (and yes I realize they released every single Beatles album the same week, but come on, I am not going to review the Beatles.)
Onto Blueprint… Wow! This album surprised me like walking in on grandparents mid-coitus. I was horrified at first, then I wanted to cut my ears off, now I’m like I hope I can do it like Jay-Z does it. This is his best work. I love the Gray Album but Jay-Z worked his ass off on this album. He didn’t do it for the money, he did it because he could and because no artist ever quits. Jay-Z wanted to know if his people still love him and in doing so I think he found some new people to love him. Buy the album. Stand out tunes are On To The Next, Thank You, Empire State of Mind. The song that best gives the idea of this album is Young Forever.

I love love love Kid Cudi’s Enter Galactic! It makes me want to throw on my short shorts, knee socks, and roller skates w/ the pom poms and slide into the electric disco night… yeah baby! You’re right, it’s not party music, but its gonna make you do a lil rockaway no doubt… and it’s Simple as That.
